Joshua L. Fox, M.D.

Founder and President

Joshua L. Fox, M.D is the founder and president of the New Age Research Foundation. Dr. Fox recognizes that credible source of information on skin health and conditions should be widely available to the public and that innovative research in dermatology is necessary to advance the field. Dr. Fox has always been in the forefront of providing community services such as skin cancer prevention programs in Queens, New York since 1987. Dr. Fox is an official spokesperson for the American Academy of Dermatology and has been one for the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery. He is the founder of the AAD Melanoma/Skin Cancer Prevention Program in Queens, New York. Dr. Fox is a board member of many nonprofit organizations focusing on health and education and outreach for adults & children in New York State.

Dr. Fox has received Community Service Award from the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, the prestigious Husic Award from New York University Medical Center as well as certificates of recognition for service from multiple hospitals, civic, educational and community organizations. Dr. Fox has also received multiple research and clinical awards including recognition from Top Doctors, Who’s Who, and Journal of Dermatologic Surgery and Oncology. Dr. Fox has published over 20 papers, newsletters, and abstracts at local, national, and international meetings.

Dr. Fox is the founder and director of Advanced Dermatology P.C, a professional practice, and with his associates have created one of premier practices in dermatology, laser, cosmetic, & dermatologic surgery with more dermatologic lasers than any hospital or university center in the Northeast. Dr. Fox is a leading authority in the field of dermatology with an expertise in skin cancer, dermatological surgery and laser procedures. Dr. Fox has been in the forefront and an expert resource on dermatologic topics for numerous television networks including ABC, CBS, CNN, NBC, Telemundo, talk shows, radio stations, newspapers and magazines. Dr. Fox has authored and presented papers of his research on skin cancer, immunology, lasers, and various dermatological diseases.
Dr. Fox is a graduate of the New York University Medical Center of Skin and Cancer and has been on the advisory board of the Psoriasis Foundation and National Rosacea Foundation among others. He has also been a fellow of many societies including the American Academy of Dermatology, International Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, International Academy of Cosmetic Dermatology, and the Society for Investigative Dermatology. Dr. Fox has been Chief of Dermatology of several major teaching hospitals including Mt. Sinai Hospital of Queens and Jamaica Medical Center and is currently on the staff of ten NY area hospitals. Dr. Fox and Advanced Dermatology P.C. with its Center for Laser & Cosmetic Surgery have been used as a resource center educating dermatologists, internists, family practitioners, laser surgeons, & cosmetic surgeons and others about lasers, cancer, dermatology and cosmetic surgery.



Rao N. Saladi, M.D.

Director

Dr. Rao N. Saladi serves as the Director of the New Age Research Foundation. Dr. Saladi is a medical doctor who trained in Europe and is a recognized scientist in dermatology & skin cancer research. Dr. Saladi served as a co-investigator for over four years on National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) & National Cancer Institute (NCI) funded projects at the Department of Dermatology, Mount Sinai School of Medicine of New York University. He also obtained a year of post doctoral training in Dermatopathology (study of the abnormal behavior of the skin under the microscope) at the Department of Dermatology, Mount Sinai Medical Center. Dr. Saladi performed extensive research on the harmful effects of ultraviolet rays (sun rays) on the skin, the effects of carcinogenic chemicals, the bi-product of environmental pollution and a major content of cigarette smoke and their interactions and mechanisms of causing skin damage and skin cancers. Furthermore, Dr. Saladi evaluated several potent anti-oxidants & investigated novel targets in the prevention and treatment of skin damage & skin cancers. Dr. Saladi is an invited speaker for scientific meetings and invited author for several biomedical and Dermatological journals for his expertise on photo damage, skin cancer and anti-oxidants effects. He enjoys mentoring and teaching students, medical graduates and postdoctoral fellows in Dermatological research.

With an extensive research & publication history, Dr. Saladi has experience in clinical dermatology, dermatopathology & basic and clinical dermatological research. Dr. Saladi has over 40 publications as the author or co-author including articles and abstracts in peer-reviewed scientific and dermatological journals. Dr. Saladi’s publication history includes  prestigious national and international medical, dermatological and biomedical cancer research journals such as Journal of American Academy of Dermatology, Archives of Dermatology, International Journal of Dermatology, Clinical and Experimental Dermatology, The Journal of American Osteopathic College of Dermatology, Carcinogenesis, Journal of Nutrition, Nutrition and Cancer, Photochemistry and Photobiology, International Journal of Cancer Prevention, International Journal of Cancer, Drugs of Today, Journal of Investigative Dermatology, Research Trends etc. Dr. Saladi serves as reviewer of Cancer and Dermatological journals and as a member of editorial board. Dr. Saladi is an invited speaker at numerous conferences and regular attendee at medical dermatology and skin cancer conferences and seminars. Dr. Saladi has been consulted for his expertise in anti-oxidant therapy, photo-damage and skin cancer. Dr. Saladi is a member of New York Academy of Sciences, New York Academy of Medicine, Society of Investigative Dermatology, American Cancer Society, Internet Dermatology Society. International Transplant Skin Cancer Collaborative (ITSCC) and European Skin Care in Organ Transplant Patients (SCOPE). Dr. Saladi has obtained certification attending courses parallel the degree curriculum of Zicklin’s School of Business MBA program of Baruch College, New York, New York. Andrea N. Persaud, M.D.

Dr. Andrea Persaud is a board certified dermatologist who practices both medical and cosmetic dermatology in New York City.

Dr. Persaud completed her residency in dermatology at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, New York University. She received her MD degree at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, and completed her medical internship at NYU/Bellevue Hospital of New York University.

Dr. Persaud has extensive research experience in dermatopharmacology, conducting over 100 clinical trials. Dr. Persaud holds several fellowships in dermatopharmacology in the Department of Dermatology at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine and Ronald O. Perelman Department of Dermatology, New York University School of Medicine. One of her widely recognized work on treating pre-cancerous skin lesions (actinic keratoses) with a topical immunomodulator (imiquimod cream) was approved by the FDA.

Dr. Persaud has spoken at conferences nationally and internationally, and is often quoted in the media and newsletters about her work on treating pre-cancerous skin lesions with a topical immunomodulator cream. Widely published in many medical journals, Dr. Persaud has also published and presented more than 30 clinical research and case report abstracts at various medical conferences and in journals. She has also written a book chapter on psoriasis. She regularly attends American Academy of Dermatology conferences and other dermatology meetings, and serves as a reviewer for various dermatological journals and books. Dr. Persaud is an active member of the National Psoriasis Foundation.

Dr. Persaud is also co-founder of Yauvan Professional Skin Care and serves as the Vice-President of Yauvan Corporation. Dr. Persaud’s biography is listed in Who’s Who in the World, Who’s Who in America, and Who’s Who in American Women.

Doru T. Alexandrescu, MD

Doru T. Alexandrescu, M.D. is a board-certified oncologist, internist, and hematologist. Dr Alexandrescu completed his medical residency and his fellowship in medical oncology and hematology at New York Medical College .

Dr. Alexandrescu has authored articles in peer-reviewed dermatology and oncology journals such as Archives of Dermatology, Clinical and Experimental Dermatology, International Journal of Dermatology, Dermatology Online Journal, Medical Oncology, Leukemia & Lymphoma, Clinical Oncology, Journal of Immunotherapy, American Journal of Hematology.

Dr. Alexandrescu has written textbook and book chapters on immunotherapy of melanoma, cutaneous lymphomas, dermatological emergencies in oncology, and cutaneous toxicity of chemotherapeutical agents. He is a reviewer for several dermatology and oncology journals, including the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, British Journal of Dermatology, and Clinical and Experimental
Dermatology.

Dr. Alexandrescu is actively involved in clinical research and teaching the Melanoma Fellows, Oncology Fellows, and Medical Residents and students at the Washington Hospital Center , Georgetown University . His current research interests include the treatment of melanoma and understanding its natural evolution from the cutaneous stages to distant metastases. Dr. Alexandrescu is conducting clinical research involving antibodies against CTLA-4 and survivin, targeted to enhance anti-tumor immunity and inhibit antiapoptotic pathways. He is interested in analyzing the effect of blocking cellular pro-angiogenetic and proliferative pathways by using multiple tyrosine kinase inhibitors as biological modulators and sensitizers to the effects of cytotoxic chemotherapy.

Hasan Mukhtar, Ph.D.

Hasan Mukhtar, Ph.D. is a Professor in the Departments of Dermatology (with secondary appointments in the Departments of Radiation Oncology, Environmental Health Sciences and General Medical Sciences, Physiology and Biophysics) at Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio where he also serves as the Co-Director of the Skin Disease Research Center, and the Co-leader of the Cancer Genetics Program, the Director of the Athymic Animal Facility and a Member of the Executive Council of the CWRU/Ireland Cancer Center. He is also an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Dermatology at Columbia University's College of Physicians and Surgeons, New York, N.Y. and a Member of the Board of Trustees of The Ohio Cancer Research Associates. Prof. Mukhtar received a B.S. in Physics, Chemistry, Math and a M.Sc. in Biochemistry from Lucknow University, India. His Ph.D. was in Biochemistry from Kanpur University in India. Prof. Mukhtar has organized and chaired 17 symposiums, served on 19 Editorial Boards and reviewed for 55 journals. Prof. Mukhtar's bibliography includes 16 journal articles. He is a member of 11 learned societies and has been listed or featured in such publications as: "Frontiers of Science and Technology", "Cancer Professionals and Facilities" and the "International Journal of Oncology". Prof. Mukhtar's research work covers multidisciplinary areas of dermapharmacology, dermatoxicology, skin carcinogenesis, chemical carcinogenesis, photocarcinogenesis, prostate cancer, drug metabolism, toxicology, cancer chemoprevention, diet nutrition and cancer, oncogenes and cancer, photobiology, photodynamic therapy, environmental health, occupational health, risk assessment, inflammatory responses and clinical research.

Jason S. Applebaum, M.D.

Jason S. Applebaum, M.D. is a board-certified dermatologist and fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, Dr. Applebaum received his medical degree from The Albert Einstein School of Medicine in the Bronx. He completed his internship in internal medicine at The New York University Medical Center in Manhattan, and performed his dermatology residency at the University of Chicago Hospitals. Dr. Applebaum has authored journal articles for such publications as The Annals of Emergency Medicine and the Journal of the National Cancer Institute on dermatological subjects ranging from melanoma to laceration repairs. Dr. Applebaum has had extensive training and experience in laser surgery per a wide range of indications. He is also trained in cosmetic surgery and phlebology.

Lance A. Barazani, M.D.

Lance Barazani, M.D. is a board-certified dermatologist and fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, Dr. Barazani received his medical degree from New York Medical College. He completed his residency in internal medicine at University Hospital Stony Brook, New York, and his dermatology residency at New York Hospital-Cornell University Medical Center in Manhattan. Dr. Barazani performed his fellowship studies at the Laboratory For Investigative Dermatology, Rockefeller University, New York City. Research Dermatology at the Rockefeller University in Manhattan. His research work on wound healing and skin disorders such as psoriasis has been published in numerous medical journals, including the Journal of Investigative Dermatology. Dr. Barazani is also a member of The International Society of Hair Restoration Surgeons and Performs natural hair transplants on a regular basis. Dr. Barazani was one of the first doctors on Long Island to perform cosmetic botox treatments (1996). He is recognized by botox cosmetic as a member of the National Education Faculty, an honor limited to very few botox physicians nationwide.

Luigi Naldi, M.D.

Luigi Naldi, M.D. was born in Chioggia near Venice, Italy, in 1954. He did classical studies in Bergamo and took a degree in industrial design in Milan in 1975. He graduated as a medical doctor at the University of Pavia in 1981. From 1984 to 1986 he was a junior investigator in the laboratory of Clinical Pharmacology of the Mario Negri Institute in Milan. In 1988 he moved to the clinical arena (dermatology) at the Department of Dermatology of the Bergamo General Hospital. He always considered the clinical setting as the "natural laboratory" for clinical research. Since 1986 he is coordinating a collaborative research group, in Italy, the Italian Group for Epidemiologic Research in Dermatology (GISED). He is a co-founder of the European Dermatoepidemiology Network (EDEN). In 2003, he established a research center at the Bergamo General Hospital, the Centro Studi GISED, with the aim of promoting clinical research programs in dermatology and promoting an evidence based approach to clinical questions.

Michael B. Wartels, M.D.

Michael B. Wartels M.D. is a board-certified dermatologist and fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. Dr. Wartels received his medical degree from the New York University School of Medicine. He completed his internship in internal medicine at the Strong Memorial Hospital of University of Rochester, and performed his dermatology residency at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
